Public health systems built to hold up in the field.
I design and run the data infrastructure behind malaria and vector control programs — national DHIS2 platforms, mobile data collection, and the pipelines and dashboards that turn field data into decisions.
About
For the past decade I've built and run the digital backbone of national malaria programs — starting in the field with the Peace Corps and Abt Associates in Uganda, then as a DHIS2 solutions architect supporting surveillance systems across more than fifteen national PMI programs. Today I'm the systems and MEL technical lead for PMI Evolve.
My background sits at the intersection of malaria program work, digital health infrastructure, and evidence generation — I'm as comfortable in a spray campaign's field operations as I am in a database schema or a funder's data request.
I'm currently taking on consulting work in malaria and public health program data systems, and in data visualization and mobile data deployment more broadly.
Focus areas
Malaria & vector control
IRS and ITN campaign data systems, burn-rate and coverage tracking, and field supervision tools that hold up under real campaign conditions.
Public health information systems
DHIS2 architecture and administration, national HMIS integration, platform upgrades, and data pipelines built to run at scale.
Data viz & mobile deployment
Dashboards and reporting built for the people who actually use them, plus XLSForms and mobile data collection for teams working offline and in the field.
Background
-
Peace Corps · Uganda
National Malaria Coordinator
Started in malaria program work at the field level, coordinating malaria control activities within Uganda's Peace Corps program.
-
Abt Associates · Uganda
Indoor residual spraying, field operations
Worked directly on IRS campaign field operations, the same campaigns I now help support with data systems.
-
~10 years
DHIS2 solutions architect
Designed and managed DHIS2 infrastructure for surveillance systems across more than fifteen national PMI vector control programs.
-
Current
PMI Evolve — Systems & MEL technical lead
Technical lead on a Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning team, covering systems administration, data pipelines, and program evidence infrastructure.
Selected work
National IRS module integration
Built a customized indoor residual spraying module inside a national ministry of health's DHIS2 instance, ahead of an active spray campaign.
Major platform upgrade
Led a national malaria program through a multi-step DHIS2 version upgrade, including breaking-change audits and a phased rollout plan.
Campaign burn-rate tracking
Built a near real-time tracking system using DHIS2 program indicators to monitor progress across a 30-day IRS campaign.
Field supervision forms
Designed XLSForms for day-of-spray and distribution supervision, built for offline use by field teams.
